My Name

My name means "son of Kenneth", and I am not a son nor is my father's name Kenneth. It means wake up for school. It means please come play with me. It means I'm mad but I still love you. To me my name means nothing. I wasn't named after a loved family member or an adored heroine from my culture. My name was just a thought and then it became a reality.
My name is pronounced wrong by many because of it's spelling. People put to much stress on the second syllable and it then sounds like a cat coughing up a hairball . I don't believe my name fits me but in the end it's still who I am. :)

If I Was Forced To Work In My School

I haven't really had much thought on working at a school because I never imagined myself having to work at one, but if I was forced to work in a school I would want to be a kindergarten P.E teacher.
I would want to specifically be a kindergarten P.E teacher because at older grades the kids that don't really like sports might not be as cooperative and you can really tell that they don't want to be there doing the activity, but with kindergartners they love running around and it's just so much fun playing different sports and games with them and teaching them about sportsmanship and teamwork.
With young children if they are exposed to physical activity and exercise at a young age then they are more likely to love exercising when they're older, so I would really like to contribute to the molding of their mind set. :)

My Thanksgiving Thoughts

While I’m in the kitchen cooking with my dad and little sister with the sounds of energetic little boys and The Channel 7 News surround me I think to myself just how lucky I am.

Gratitude List:
My Family - they always make me smile even when I really don’t want to
Food - the best thing to relax me after an intense swim practice
My home - provides me with shelter and warmth
Music/Earbuds - whenever I’m in a bad mood, nervous for a swim meet, or I just don’t feel like talking to anybody I can just listen to my music and block it out
My bike - since I can’t drive yet my bike is my go to for quick transportation
Diversity - the world would be a boring place without diversity
Great Health - I can do all the things I love
Holidays - they don’t call it “the most wonderful time of the year” for nothing

Sibling bonds - there’s nothing quite like it when you  just have that special moment with your built in best friends

Food, Glorious Food

If I had to pick a favorite food, I would probably pick deep fried chicken. I make deep fried chicken all the time with my dad and my little sister and I've picked up a few tips on how to make it perfect.

HOW TO MAKE DEEP FRIED CHICKEN:

Ingredients:

  • Deep fryer
  • Oil
  • Bowls
  • Seasonings
  • Flour
  • Chicken (Preferably frozen and store bought so you don't have to kill anything)

Steps:
  1.  Defrost the chicken
  2.  Pour oil into deep fryer until it comes up to the line inside
  3.  Plug in the deep fryer and turn knob to 400 degrees (leave it to heat up)
  4.  Rinse your chicken in room temperature tap water
  5.  Once you're done rinsing place the chicken on a cutting board and begin seasoning
  6.  After you're done seasoning fill a bowl half way with flour
  7.  After you fill the bowl half way with flour take your meat and mix it around in the bowl until it's covered
  8.  Repeat process until all of the pieces of chicken are covered in flour
  9.  Place the flour coated chicken in the hot oil
  10.  Wait
  11.  Once chicken starts to float it's done and you can fish it out and dig in
  12.  Enjoy
My amazing recipe for deep fried chicken would beat Bobby Flay any day.

Best Childhood Memory

When I was little I would always look forward to the week before Christmas because that was when the Caillou Christmas Marathon was on and he would have his countdown to Christmas, I loved it so much my parents bought it on DVD and now we still have it for my little brothers to enjoy. To this day I can still remember the song Caillou would sing with his mommy and daddy before he would go to sleep and flip over a new number tab. The awesome thing about those number tabs was that in each one there was a picture of how Christmas was celebrated in different countries. Being the oldest and having amazing childhood memories is really great because you can share them with your younger siblings and just spread the enjoyment like jelly! :)

Ten Years From Now

Ten years from now I will be twenty three years old and I will be a completely independent adult. I will hopefully be graduating from college at Stanford and will be applying to medical schools. I hope to one day become and orthopedist, I know I have a long road ahead of me with several more years of schooling, but I am willing to put in the hard work. Ever since I was five years old and my dad read me Dem Bones, I have had a real interest in what makes up the human body. Although I am only thirteen I have a very clear idea of what I want to do with my life, my parents have always told me that if you want something you work for it, and that is what I plan to do. Image result for full body xray

Hilton Head, South Carolina

It was a windy summer day in late July and it was day two of my family vacation to South Carolina, my family was planning on spending the day at the beach and then the unthinkable happened, it started to rain, hard. Everybody on the beach started to run the wind was speeding up and sand started to blow around wildly. My brothers were in awe at how the waves crashed on the shore, my mom tried to pull the stroller we brought through the sand, my dad and sister were trying to go swimming like a couple of loons in the monstrous waves, and my cousin Ashanti, she was focused on making sure her hair didn't get wet. When we made it back to our car we were soaking and covered from the knees below in wet sand. You might think that this would have put a damper on our vacation, but it was one of the best parts, it was both  humorous and exhilarating and one of my best memories with my family I wouldn't want to change a second of it.

Weekly Quotation

Hello people of the universe! This week I have two quotes about swimming because swimming pretty much IS my life. I don't mean like it's my life like I love it so much -which I do-, but I mean it's my life because it takes up so much of my time, but nonetheless I still love the sport. There's something about pushing your body to your breaking point and racing against yourself that is just really satisfying (but still exhausting).

I like this quote because it just vocalizes what all swimmers have to explain. SWIMMING IS HARD

This quote is the best EVER! It just speaks my mind all the way. Swimming is a very unique sport that not a lot of people can handle.
